Free oral presentations

     Last Wednesday, our group from practicum with children started to introduce oral presentations about free topics. The activity consisted of presenting a role-play or drama or describing our favorite book, movie, place and so on. Topics were free which means that students could talk about any topic they were interested in. There are some positive aspects of this activity. The first one is that through this activity we could check our problems whenever we present or speak in public, for example: eye contatc, class management, and body language; moreover, I do like the fact that the teacher and some students provided feedback to some of us about the errors while we were presenting, as well as some tips were given in order to avoid all the mistakes that we made during the activity.

     Nevertheless, despite of having good things about the oral presentations, there were some negative aspects of them. The first was time management. Some presentations were too long and others too short. It could be better if the average time had been three minutes per person because whenever somebody presents at the very last  minute, most of the class do not pay attention which could make the person feel uncomfortable while he or she presents. Besides, some students did not use visual aids. It would be better if everytime we present visual charts were used to have a better idea of what someone is talking about; they could make presentations more attractive. Overall, despite of some good and bad things about all the oral presentations what I really liked was that we as future teacher could check the problems that we had while we were in front of the class, and how we could correct them to project ourselves in a better way.
